Refecting on Pharma Reps

An overheard conversation between two Pharma reps is the launching point for this post over at Lisa Williams' place. I was struck by its lyrical tone...

I often wonder, why do the doctors agree to make appointments with them, these beautiful girls and their Powerpoints that use “impact” as a verb? Petty, I know, but it took a lot of restraint for me not to say to them, girls, if you’re going to push up the cost of healthcare, at least use proper grammar.

These girls are the rococo curlicues on the edifice of healthcare economics...

I hope this is just a preview of the kind of writing we can expect from her novel. If so, sign me up.

Review: Watson Adventures at the Museum of Natural History

I've been meaning to write about this for a while and finally have some time...About two weeks ago, my 8 year-old daughter and I had an outing in NYC at the Museum of Natural History. We took part in a scavenger hunt hosted by Watson Adventures.

What a blast! I can't recommend this activity highly enough. You get there and form teams (the daughter and I decided to "go it alone"). Once you form your teams, you get a list of questions to be answered and then you are off! You book around the museum and answer trivia questions whose answers can only be found by literally finding the right spot in the museum. What a blast!

It was a ton of fun and our competitive spirit really came out. Turns out that we tied for the most right answers, but lost out on the tie-breaker question. In any event, these guys do public "hunts" in all the major museums in NYC as well as doign corporate "team building" outings. Go over to their website and check it out. We had a great time.
