Reading a bunch of blogger reviews of the iPhone and it seems to live up to the hype. The thing that cracks me up though, is this LinkedIn question and the subsequent answers. The question is: "Is anyone buying the new iPhone?"
How many of the folks that answered realize that they sound like just about every naysayer back in 1984 when the first Mac debuted?
Go look for yourself, but here's a few answers posted:
- "No way will I own an iPhone when a Treo has much more functionality."
- "why step backwards and pay a load more, just for an admittedly slick package? And even if the thing does support exchange at some point, no actual corporate environment is going to actually let its employees use it to get corporate email with the security issues."
- "Are you kidding? Who would want to use a phone that can't connect to corporate email systems like Exchange. It has poor battery life, no 3G and the list goes on."
These guys are missing the point. This is a sea change in phone interface and functionality. The bar has been raised. Keep dismissing it as a toy, but you are just repeatingthe mistakes of those PC users back in '84 who deemed the Mac to be too "cute" to take seriously.
